Metro have delivered yet another blow for Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it seems that Newcastle United are ready to reject the Gunners £10 million bid made for Yohan Cabaye.
Arsene Wenger has already made rather a fool of himself this transfer market by making a bid of £40 million and £1 for Luis Suarez, and now it seems the bid for Cabaye is not headed to the Emirates Stadium either, leading to an irate Alan Pardew.
Clearly the bid submitted by Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger fell far below the expectations of Alan Pardew, who raged after the defeat by Manchester City and noted that: “What I can confirm, on the eve of a game, is we’ve had a bid for one of the players which we don’t think is acceptable.
“Therefore I have to pick a team that I think is going to get a result. The rights or wrongs of that bid I will leave others to think about, but I know what I think of it.”
As one of our punters quips, it is not just Newcastle United that are in need of new faces, and are not really in the positions to be letting their best players leave, and certainly not for nominal amounts. Perhaps they should turn to transfer whizz Joe Kinnear in their times of trouble?
Will Cabaye remain at St. James’ Park this summer or can Arsenal strike a late improved deal? Let us know your thoughts below.
