Newcastle United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking concerned with the fresh speculation arriving from The Telegraph.
Luke Edwards from the paper has brought news that Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a £26 million bid for Yohan Cabaye as they step up their increase in the Newcastle United midfielder.
The French international had been previously targeted by Arsenal during the summer, with the North London side seeing a £10.1 million offer rejected by the Tyneside club.
The 27-year-old then tried to force the transfer through by reportedly striking for three matches before he was persuaded to stay at St. James’ Park by boss Alan Pardew.
Cabaye has since returned to Pardew’s side with some eye-catching displays, earning his reputation as the Magpies’ best player.
This fine form is set to rekindle interest from PSG with coach Laurent Blanc desperate to land the former Lille man. It seems unlikely that the Magpies will be able to resist any offers over £20 million for the midfield dynamo, who only has two years remaining on his current deal with the club.
Here in the tavern, we always thought that Cabaye was the sort of player that Manchester United boss David Moyes should be looking at, especially as Cabaye can feature in this season’s Champions League.
However with no offers fore-coming from Old Trafford, it appears that a return to France ahead of the upcoming World Cup could suit all parties.
Do you think that Cabaye will leave Newcastle in the next few weeks? Let us know your thoughts below.
