Newcastle United complete swift appointment of McClaren replacement

BenitezThe Newcastle United fans are celebrating in The Transfer Tavern at news the club have quickly replaced sacked boss Steve McClaren.

Newcastle have confirmed the news that former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has signed a three year deal to become manager of the club with an opt out clause of the club are relegated.

Benitez takes over from Steve McClaren who was sacked earlier today, and Benitez has been tasked with the job of keeping the Tyneside club in the Premier League.

Speaking about his appointment as the club’s new manager, Benitez said:

“I have the pleasure to confirm I have committed to a legendary English club, with the massive challenge of remaining part of the Premier League. It will be a challenge not just for me and my staff but for the players, the Club and the fans.”

“All of us must push together in the same direction and with the same target in mind. This is the reason why I’m going to ask for your total support to successfully complete this task.”

“Personally, it means my return to the Premier League, closer to my home and my family. I can’t be happier. C’mon Toon Army! The club and I need your total involvement!”

Our landlord in The Tavern believes that Benitez is a great appointment for the club and that his experience will see the club fine come May.

As for the Newcastle fans, they are just pleased the appointment came quicker than the decision to sack McClaren, and will fully be behind their new boss as he starts work on achieving the club’s Premier League status is in tact by the end of the season.
