The Daily Star is reporting that Rafael Benitez is set to remain at St James Park next season, and is currently in negotiations with the club regarding a deal.
Benitez has met with the board and verbally agreed to remain at the helm of the club, to try and get them an instant return to the Premier League come this time next season.
Speculation has been rife that the popular Spaniard would leave St James Park this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship, but it now appears that he has been given assurances by the club’s board that he will be able to run things his way next season.
Benitez will have full control of incoming players this summer with chief scout Graham Carr expected to announce his retirement this summer, after six years in the role.
Our landlord in the Tavern believes that Benitez will be able to continue the momentum he has built up in recent weeks, and with the Spaniard at the helm that the club could make that all important return to the top flight at the first attempt.
As for the Newcastle fans they are as equally delighted by the news and are already looking forward to better performances from their team next season.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
