Newcastle United fans participating in the pub quiz in the Tavern won’t have to recall any obscure footballing knowledge after their club has been linked with a familiar face.
The Magpies are considering a shock move for Nicklas Bendtner this January, according to reports from the Metro.
Bendtner has struggled for regular playing time with Wolfsburg this term and the Bundesliga outfit are said to be willing to let the Dane depart in order to gain first-team action.
The former Arsenal striker has been out of form and fitness and, if German publication Bild are to believed, Wolfsburg are looking to offload the 27-year old, with a move to St. James’ Park a real possibility.
With Papiss Cisse sidelined for around three months due to a groin injury and Aleksandar Mitrovic the only out-and-out centre forward left in the first-team, Newcastle have been linked with a whole host of strikers, including former loanee Loic Remy.
However, some Newcastle fans around the Tavern believe that now is the perfect time for Bendtner to prove himself as Steve McClaren will be able to give him regular minutes in his side.
Bendtner has made 16 appearances in all competitions this term, albeit mostly as a substitute, scoring four goals in the process.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have been relatively short on goals this term and, although Bendtner endured an underwhelming spell in England, he does bring plenty of experience.
