Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping the club listens to the comments made by a player about their manager and the future at the club.
Martin Dubravka has revealed that he has urged the Magpies to keep Rafa Benitez at the helm of St. James’ Park, whilst also revealing that he is also desperate to stay with the team as well.
“We need the manager to stay, he is the boss, he is the most important person. The manager and the owner, they have to work together and get Newcastle back to the level they should be at,” he told the Telegraph.
“I’m desperate to stay here, I know that already. The fans, they have been amazing, everywhere we go, they stop and talk. This is a proper football city, I love that, you feel it as soon as you get here.”
Things for the Toon Army have considerably changed since the arrival of the goalkeeper, who has kept three clean sheets in his four starts since his arrival, including an impressive debut against Manchester United in a 1-0 win. With Dubravka already proving to be a fan favourite, his recent comments have only delighted our punters clad in black and white even more.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be echoing the comments made by Dubravka, urging the club to do all they can to keep Benitez at the helm for many years to come, whilst also signing the Slovakia international on a permanent deal.
