Many fans of Newcastle United on Twitter have been reacting to the news that Mike Dean will take charge of Sunday’s home clash against Manchester United.
Do you seriously think Peter Kenyon will purchase Newcastle United?
The club announced via their Twitter account than Dean will be the referee for the game which has prompted a lot of responses from the Toon Army.
It was in March following a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth that former manager Rafa Benitez wasn’t happy with what happened in the game that Dean officiated. He said at the time (via the BBC): “There were too many decisions that didn’t go our way today” and “some decisions you need to have VAR”.
Benitez also commented on Dean’s performance specifically, saying “we were not happy with a lot of things” and that “you are talking about things where we (Benitez and Dean) have different opinions.”
On the other hand, though, when Jamal Lascelles clashed with Harry Kane inside the box in late August, many felt that Spurs had every reason to feel aggrieved for not winning a penalty that Dean didn’t award on that occasion.
Nevertheless, he will be officiating on Sunday so here are some of the responses with Newcastle fans providing their thoughts on the matter…
As if being managed by Steve Bruce didn’t already have disaster written all over it……the FA wheel this plum out. FML.
