Newcastle United: Fans reminisce over better times following Sean Longstaff post

After the club posted a happy birthday message to Sean Longstaff, including a clip of his goal against Burnley back in February, it got fans emotional over the good old days.
The Magpies’ 2-0 win over Burnley last season contributed to their eventual 13th-place finish, avoiding relegation by a whopping 11 points, in a time where Rafael Benitez seemed to be performing miracles with an extremely low budget.
After the Spaniard left in the summer due to falling out with Newcastle’s board over transfer spending, the club then hired Steve Bruce who has since brought in a few much-needed signings.
Despite this, it looks inevitable the Magpies are set to be battling relegation again this season, with Bruce’s side just a point above the drop zone.
However, the Longstaff clip got Newcastle fans remembering a different era under Benitez, along with praising the player himself.
Here’s how they reacted to a lovely finish from the youngster:

I haven’t seen that many men in the box in open play for a long time.
Does that look like a team that was just trying to hold onto their lead Brucie????
