Newcastle United: Fans tear into Steve Bruce following latest comments over job status

It’s been a sub-par start to the season from a Newcastle United perspective, picking up just three wins in 11 games, and the manager’s latest comments have riled up a portion of the fanbase.
Ahead of the Magpies’ next home game against Bournemouth, when asked if he was looking to get to the international break with a certain amount of points, Steve Bruce joked that he was just looking to keep his job by that time.
Despite an impressive 3-2 victory at West Ham in their last game, it was the first time they had managed to score more than one goal in a game this season, with two of those strikes coming from defenders.
Indeed, their problems going forward so far this term have been well documented, with record signing Joelinton striking just once so far, but regardless of their current weaknesses in an attacking sense, that still hasn’t excused Bruce for the ‘self-pitying’ comments made prior to their clash with the Cherries.
Here’s how the fans responded to his verdict.
More self pity.

Wish he would stop feeling sorry for himself and just get on with the job, if he stopped banging on about it all the time people might start to warm to him rather than being reminded that we’re not big fans of him

Next week, bruce will have a violinist playing in the background whilst he starts his talk around ‘poor old me, the fans dont appreciate my coaching skills’.

Does he mean how he failed to implement his own ideas into the squad, when he had a full pre season with them… then decide to go back to Rafa’s tactics?

Did you ask him if he even knew which direction he was taking the team?

I can’t see the fans ever fully taking to him and his desperation for admiration seems to push us further away. Bruce was simply a pawn in Ashley’s contrived geopolitics during the summer. That will always work against him whatever direction he takes the team.
