Newcastle United fear potential exit

CabayeYohan Cabaye is one of the Football Transfer Tavern’s favourite midfield men but Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew fears he may lose his key player this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.

Arsenal made a £10 million bid for the Frenchman earlier this week and it appears that Paris Saint-Germain have now entered the race to sign the silky midfielder with a transfer war set to begin.

Every player has his price and with Cabaye refusing to play against both Manchester City last week and West Ham United yesterday, it appears the player is keen to move away from St. James’ Park.

Newcastle want at least £18 million for the French international who will be eyeing a spot in the Les Blues squad for the World Cup in Brazil next summer and so playing in the Champions League will only help that.

Pardew has been unimpressed with how Arsenal have approached the former Lille playmaker and Cabaye appears to be a man under pressure with just over a week to go in the transfer window.

Joe Kinnear is in charge of all transfers at the North East club but Pardew is the one who needs results on the pitch to keep his job.

“The situation’s quite simple, really. We need to resolve this and get ourselves in a position where if he stays – great – and if he doesn’t, then we get someone equally as good,” Pardew told Sky Sports.

“That is probably where we’re at, and I don’t really want to say any more than that.”

Will Cabaye remain with the Magpies beyond September 2nd or is he heading to Arsenal or PSG? Let us know your thoughts below.
