Newcastle United forward set for permanent departure

cabella9The Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern haven’t had too much to shout about this season, but there have been some raised voices after Shield Gazette reported that Remy Cabella is set to leave the club.

They claim that Marseille are prepared to end Remy Cabella’s unhappy spell on Tyneside, with reports in France indicating that the Ligue 1 outfit are set to activate a £6 million buy-out clause in his contract.

The deal is yet to be confirmed by either club, but with the 25-year old seemingly happy to be back in France, his future at St. James’ Park looks set to be over.

The playmaker only moved to Newcastle back in 2014 in an £8 million move, but he struggled for the Magpies, netting just one goal in 31 Premier League appearances.

Cabella has managed 19 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille this term, scoring three goals in the process, and our landlord believes that a permanent switch back to France is the ideal option!

Newcastle fans, would you have liked to see Cabella return after his loan spell in France? Let us know in the comments below!
