Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be eager to see one of their favourites return to the club in the summer, however, they may not be able to see him back at St. James’ Park.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has been enjoying his time at Fulham on loan this season and has been key in helping the Craven Cottage outfit push for promotion. The Serbia international had fallen out of favour in the North-East as Rafa Benitez decided against using him and it is thought he could be out in the next transfer window.
According to Go West London, they are claiming Slavisa Jokanovic wants the striker to stay with him at the club once his loan deal expires, however, he has admitted that he is powerless to make a decision, stating it was not in his control.
“He made a great job for us, club took the right decision to bring him to help us,” he told Get West London.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future, first of all he is a Newcastle player and ahead of him is the World Cup.
“I know he is really happy with the team, with the club, with the city and for another side he knows I am satisfied with level he offer us.
“Everything is open, part of another side if you ask me about it if I want him with us, yes I want.
“If you as if they want to stay it’s probably a yes, but in realistic life we are going to see.
“This job is for another side and not under my control.”
As you can imagine, our punters clad in black and white aren’t quite sure about to what make of Mitrovic. Yes, he’s been on fire for Fulham, though things are going well on Tyneside right now and the notion of him leaving isn’t as gutting as it used to be.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be delighted to see what the 23-year-old has managed to achieve in his short-spell with Fulham, although a number of locals will believe that he will be departing the club permanently in the summer as he looks for first-team football.
