The Newcastle United fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports concerning their managers future at the club.
The Telegraph is reporting that the recently relegated Premier League side Newcastle United have held talks with Rafael Benitez in the hope that the Spaniard will lead the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt next season.
It is believed the first round of talks ended positively despite Benitez stating when he first arrived that he did not want tyou manage in the second tier of English football.
It could all come down to the demands which he has asked for being met by the club’s owner Mike Ashley these include full control over recruitment, scouting and player development.
Sources close to the Spaniard suggest that he will only be willing to stay at the club if he feels everything sounds right with the agreement.
The Newcastle fans in The Tavern would love to see Benitez stay but feel that there is no way Ashley will meet the demands set and are resigned that the Spaniard will leave this summer.
