Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner has today announced that the club will be put up for sale but Newcastle are hoping that some of their squad are also up for sale.
According to the Daily Star, Pardew is set to launch a double bid for ex-Leeds United midfielder Fabian Delph and Austrian striker Andreas Weimann.
It’s understood that a double deal for the Villa duo could cost Newcastle £15 million after both players impressed despite an generally average season for the Villa Park club.
It means that Pardew is unlikely to secure Loic Remy on a permanent deal despite having a more than satisfactory season up north.
Remy is available for sale from QPR but it now seems that Newcastle are targeting Weimann as a more realistic incoming.
But Newcastle fans in the tavern are suggesting that it will take more than a couple of bog-standard squad players to win them back.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley sanctioned a deal for the club’s star man in January as Yohan Cabaye left for French money-bags outfit Paris Saint-Germain – leaving Geordies furious.
And it was the catalyst that led to a shocking last half of the season and it left many fans calling for Pardew’s head.
What do you think Newcastle fans? Should Alan Pardew be given the funds to challenge for the Champions League or should he be axed? Let us know your thoughts below.
