Newcastle United interested in 26-year-old Scotland winger to replace outgoing Andros Townsend

ritchieeeThe Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern have just about got used to the fact that they will be playing in the Sky Bet Championship next season, with the majority of the Magpies faithful in decent spirits.

Our landlord has spotted an article in today’s edition of The Sun that claims the Championship outfit are lining-up a move for Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie as a direct replacement for Andros Townsend who could be sold this summer.

Ritchie was in fine form for the Cherries during their maiden campaign in the top flight last season and the Magpies are preparing a £10 million raid on one of the club’s brightest talents.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is desperate to add some Championship experience to his squad ahead of next season and Ritchie has been there and done it before, winning the league with Bournemouth in 2014/15.

One Newcastle fan is sat in bar waiting for Sunday night quiz to begin and he thinks that Ritchie would be a quality signing, stating that he could do exactly the same job as what Townsend can.

Newcastle fans, would you welcome Ritchie at the club? Is he as good as Townsend?
