Newcastle United keeping tabs on exciting local talent

mcclaren8281Newcastle United fans in The Transfer Tavern are this evening competing in a pool tournament, but the hot topic of conversation is the fact that the club are watching a young Geordie.

The Chronicle is reporting that the club are keeping tabs on 16-year-old Callum Douglas.

Douglas was invited for a trial with the Premier League giants during the summer but Newcastle decided against offering the player a place in their academy.

Douglas is currently plying his trade in the Spanish lower leagues with Jove Saint Vicente and despite not being offered terms by Newcastle in the summer, the academy were instructed to keep on eye on his progress this season.

But Newcastle are now not the only club interested in the youngster who recently was invited for a trial at 23 time Norwegian champions Rosenberg.

The Newcastle United fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted that the club are looking to locally born players for their future squad, and hope that Douglas carries on working hard and then maybe one day he may get to turn out in the famous black and white stripes.

Newcastle fans, how desperate are you for a local-born hero? Let us know in the comments below!
