Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window as they look to bring in a number of additions to help strengthen the side.
Rafa Benitez has ensured the Magpies will stay in the Premier League next season and will be busy looking for a number of recruits to bring to St. James’ Park to help build upon their first year back in the top-flight, despite the lack of talks he has had about his own future.
According to Uruguayan media outlet Ovacion Digital, the Toon Army are thought to be interested in Hull City’s Abel Hernandez. The striker will be available on a free transfer at the end of the campaign as he is believed to be keen to play elsewhere.
The report claims that Benitez views the 27-year-old as someone who would offer them the characteristics that he is looking for, whilst also having some experience within the Premier League, albeit one season. Newcastle are also believed to have made Hull aware of their interest in the past, however, the Championship side were unwilling to let him leave.
The Newcastle locals in the Tavern will be excited that the club are already preparing for their summer recruitment drive and a number of the punters will believe Hernandez could prove to be a useful player next season after netting 8 times in ten matches.
