And according to The Mirror the former West Ham United manager has joined the race to sign Victor Ibarbo.
Ibarbo currently plays for Serie A outfit Cagliari but they could let him go for £8.25 million.
Newcastle boss Pardew has made recruiting a striker his top priority this summer after Shola Ameobi left St. James’ Park along with Luuk de Jong.
Pardew was also unable to agree terms on a permanent deal with Loic Remy because the QPR striker wants to play Champions League football next season.
Now 24-year-old Ibarbo could be set for a move to England after the Colombian striker admitted a Premier League move appealed.
But Pardew faces stiff competition with Barcelona, Stuttgart, Juventus and Napoli all chasing him.
But the Italian club have confirmed that he will not be sold before the World Cup as Cagliari bosses hope that an impressive tournament could see his value rise rapidly with the whole world looking on.
