It’s set to be an exciting season for Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United as they make their way back to the Premier League.
The Magpies fans lining the bar here in the Tavern are extremely excited about their return to the top flight having won the Championship last time out and there seems to be genuine hope that they’re team is going to do a little bit better than just surviving too.
But of course, the pressure is on manager Rafa Benitez to add correctly to his squad over the coming months and avoid the “French disaster” that seemed to savage the club during their last spell in the top flight.
Newcastle are in a good position to compete next season and there’s one man who would add a terrific amount of depth to their ranks next time around if they could bring him in.
According to the Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez is thought to have made an enquiry for Manchester City outcast Joe Hart, who has spent the past season on-loan at Italian outfit Torino.
After Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad, Hart has been very much second-string and following the arrival of Benfica keeper Ederson earlier on this summer, Hart has slipped even further down the pecking order.
It’s going to be a tough ask for Hart to break back in at the Etihad but could he be offered a Premier League lifeline by Rafa?
