The Newcastle United supporting regulars here in the Transfer Tavern are starting to feel more confident that the club can pull clear of the relegation zone following Saturday’s 2-1 win over West Ham United.
New signing Jonjo Shelvey was the standout performer against the Hammers and supporters seem pleased with boss Steve McClaren’s latest recruit.
It wouldn’t appear that the club’s January spending is over either and one punter is stood with the landlord at the bar when he spots an article in The Chronicle that states both Alexandre Pato and Bafetimbi Gomis have been offered to the Magpies, with a striker high on the club’s agenda.
One chap is munching on a bag of crisps in the smoking area and believes that ex-AC Milan striker Pato would be a real coup for the St. James’ Park outfit, although he remains unconvinced by Gomis, stating that if he isn’t deemed good enough for Swansea, then he shouldn’t be anywhere near the Newcastle team.
Newcastle fans… Would you welcome either of these strikers to the club? Let us know in the comments below!
