The Newcastle United fans taking part in a darts tournament in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports that the club are plotting a surprise move for a young Chelsea striker.
The Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle manager Steve McClaren has turned to the possibility of bringing Patrick Bamford to the club as he looks to strengthen his striking options at the club.
Bamford called time on his season long loan with Crystal Palace last month due to lack of playing time and will want guaranteed first team football at any club he decides to join. Speaking about potential transfer targets Steve McClaren said:
“We’ve been working behind the scenes and will continue tirelessly. If we’d had Giroud we would’ve comfortably won the game. That’s the difference.”
“Unfortunately at the moment [Emmanuel] Rivière is injured, just coming back. Cisse, who is a goalscorer, is injured for the next two or three months. We’ll have to wait for a second opinion next week. We’ve got other goalscorers who need to step up to the plate.”
The Newcastle fans in The Transfer Tavern would be delighted to see the club sign Bamford who impressed during his time at Middlesbrough last season scoring 19 times.
Newcastle fans, can Bamford save you from relegation? Let us know in the comments below!
