Newcastle United recieve transfer blow as agent dashes hopes of signing former Liverpool hero

Newcastle United are back amongst the big-boys in the Premier League and there’s thought amongst their supporters lining the bar here in the pub that they have every chance of doing well next season.

The Magpies stormed to the Championship title last time out and as a result, were promoted straight back to the top-tier at the first attempt. It marked a successful first season for manager Rafa Benitez, who is now back in the Premier League where he once managed with Liverpool.

And according to Il Mattino, the Spanish manager is keen on reuniting with one player in particular- former Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

Reina now plays his football in Italy with Napoli and the Magpies are reportedly interested in bringing him back to England but Reina’s agent Manuel Quilon has been quick to pour cold water on any talk of a move.

“We do not have offers from any other clubs, as we are focused on Napoli and expect news pretty soon,” Quilon told Italian publication Il Mattino.

This seems to dash any hope Newcastle United had of securing a deal for the experienced shot-stopper but Rafa Benitez could keep tabs on the goalkeeper’s situation as the summer continues.
