The Newcastle United fans are gathered at the jukebox selecting some tunes in The Transfer Tavern this evening discussing reports that two players will not be allowed to leave the club.
The Sun is reporting that Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse will not be leaving St James Park for China, ahead of the closure of the Chinese window on Friday, as Steve McClaren sees the pair key players in the club’s fight for survival in the Premier League come May.
Both players have been heavily linked with a move to the Far East since the window in England closed at the beginning of the month.
Tiote saw a deadline day move to China fall through at the 11th hour, but rumours of a potential move ahead of Friday’s deadline to Guangzhou Evergrande have gathered pace.
As for Cisse, he is also reportedly wanted in China with Beijing Guoan linked with a move, but Newcastle manager Steve McClaren has urged Newcastle officials to reject any incoming bids for the players.
The Newcastle fans in The Tavern are not overly fussed as to whether the duo remain at the club or not as they feel that they are not committed enough to the cause.
