There’s little doubting Salomon Rondon’s dedication to Newcastle United.

If the Magpies were having second thoughts on whether to make his deal permanent, he proved his mettle against the Premier League’s best defence. Just do it, Mike Ashley.

Indeed, the Venezuelan was an absolute menace for PFA Player of the Year Virgil Van Dijk, causing him all sorts of problems with his movement in the final third. Rondon made the Dutch defender work hard to get the ball off him, while pressing hard to put pressure on the Reds. He forced them to cause errors, one of which allowed him to cooly score past Allison in the second half.

Imagine life without him. It's crazy to think the former Zenit star is in the dark over his future considering his contribution to the black and white cause. Bringing him in on loan was a wonderful transfer move, now the Toon just need to seal the deal on a permanent basis.

It can't be that hard, right? Well, this is the Ashely regime we're talking about.

Moreover, Rondon showed a fearless demeanour all throughout the game. He refused to be bullied off, always looking to take shots at goal. The Newcastle loanee had 4 shots on target, making the Brazilian 'keeper really work to keep his side afloat in the game.

Rondon’s excellent link-up play with his fellow attackers, physical demeanour and technical ability all worked in favour to shake up a dominant Liverpool side. If the Magpies really want to challenge the best next season, they’ll need the fearless South American to lead their charge with vigour.

Rather than looking for someone new, they already have their prized asset in attack. Rondon’s hit double figures for the first time in the Premier League and seems to be ageing like fine wine. The Venezuelan’s hunger is growing with each year and his persistence in scoring goals can lead the Magpies to greater things next season.
