Newcastle United scout Turkish international head of possible January move

The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern are convinced that they need a new striker in the January transfer window to take them to the next level.

The Magpies have enjoyed a successful start to life back in the top flight but they are lacking an out and out goal scorer to earn them victories.

According to a report by local media outlet The Chronicle, Newcastle United have been watching Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun ahead of possibly making a move for him in the January transfer window.

However, as things stand, they have been put off by the hefty price tag slapped on the prolific forward.

Besiktas want £17m if they are to let Tosun leave the club and join Newcastle.

The 20-cap Turkey international has eight goals for his country and scored twenty goals for Besiktas last season.

Newcastle United sent scouts to watch Cenk Tosun in Champions League action in the week and could make a move in January.

Rafa Benitez reportedly wants two strikers in the transfer window but has limits on his budget which could prevent him from making a swoop for Tosun.

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson and Liverpool’s Danny Ings are two other options for the Toon Army.
