Newcastle are getting ready for life back in the Premier League after one season in the Championship, and will be quietly confident of having enough within the squad to fend off relegation.
The Toon managed to sneak the Championship title on the final day of the season, and manager Rafa Benitez will be hoping that the squad can carry some momentum with them into the Premier League.
Our landlord has been having a good old chat this week with the Toon Army here in the Tavern, and while the sun has been shining and the beer flowing, talk has turned to who the club should be looking to sign this summer.
One player who was mentioned and discussed in depth, was Hull City defender Andrew Robertson, who is valued at £5.95m by Transfermarkt.
The flying Scottish left back was one of the standout performers for Hull, and despite their relegation, he did enough to suggest he can forge out a Premier League career and a successful one at that.
Robertson is a typical modern day full back, and often plays more like a winger. His ability to get up and down the pitch and deliver quality into the box is what makes him standout, and he is defensively sound as well.
With Newcastle looking to add new faces and quality to the ranks, Robertson fits the mould perfectly, and would surely make an excellent addition to the squad up at St James Park.
