Newcastle United ended the January window with a bit of a flourish, with the club completing a record deal for Miguel Almiron and also signing Monaco midfielder Antonio Barreca on a loan deal.

Rafa Benitez had been crying out for some new faces within his squad, and the two new additions should go down well with the Toon Army as they look for their team to move away from a potential relegation scrap.

However, we here in the Tavern think the window could have been even better for the Magpies, and believe that the club should have made a move to add some more firepower to the ranks in terms of attacking players.

With that, we feel that the club should have moved to sign Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki, who has been in tremendous form this term, notching 18 goals in the Championship as the Canaries sit primed to compete for an automatic promotion spot.

Pukki has really come on leaps and bounds this term, and on his day is as dangerous as anyone in the division at the top end of the pitch.

A capable finisher but someone who brings so much more to the game than just poaching, Pukki would have been the icing on the cake for Benitez and co.

The Finland star would have been able to add extra depth to an XI which is light on genuine attacking threat, and, with his form, would have slotted straight into life at St James' Park.

Newcastle fans, would you have taken Pukki? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
