Newcastle are monitoring the situation of young Spanish hotshot Alhagi Touray, as young striker hopes to secure dream move to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old has scored 30 goals in just 24 games for Spanish third division side, Santvicenti, which has alerted a host of English clubs.

Football Insider report that Burnley arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly yesterday so they could run the rule over the player, but there is also competition from Crystal Palace, Cardiff and other clubs across Europe.

The player made a similar appearance for Scottish side Hearts in January, but no move to the Edinburgh club materialised.

Burnley will hope they have jumped to the head of the queue in the race for the prospect, but Rafa Benitez will not miss a trick, and with a host of Spanish contacts he can call upon, he will hope that Newcastle will be right up there alongside the Lancashire club.

With established strikers always seeming to have a premium attached to their price tag, nurturing young talent is increasingly becoming the way to go in the Premier League, and with a revamp of the academy facilities at Newcastle, he would be just the type of upcoming prospect they will hope to attract.

With the number of clubs tracking him, he could be quite the coup for Rafa --- should their interest become more concrete.

And with Mike Ashley's preference to bring players in at a tender age and let their value appreciate at Newcastle, he will be seen as a perfect fit for that transfer policy.
