There are some inquisitive looks here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by Metro that Aston Villa striker Darren Bent could well in limbo regarding his future.
It was thought that the player would be making a summer switch to Newcastle United, finally getting his career back on track after a season of utter hell after being frozen out by Paul Lambert last term.
Now it seems that given the uncertain future of Villans team-mate Christian Benteke, not to mention the reluctance of Alan Pardew’s side to stump up the full £8 million fee for the England international, it now seems that Bent could well be in limbo a while longer.
It has been made perfectly clear to the player that his future does not lie at Villa Park and Paul Lambert is willing to place the player out in the cold once more in order to force a move.
Newcastle meanwhile are desperate to bring another forward to St. James’ Park and have their own issues over the future of Papiss Cisse who of course has been told to train alone due to his refusal to wear the new Wonga sponsored jersey.
Pardew is hoping to save some money on the fee for Bent and will try to negotiate the price down by playing hardball with Villa.
Will Bent eventually end up with Newcastle United this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
