Newcastle fans here in the Tavern believe again that finally their team are on course to survive relegation this season. In what has proved to be a season of up’s and down’s, the Magpies look to have done enough to stay in the league.
If Newcastle had a real goalscorer this season, relegation fears may not have even occurred but when Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Joselu have only scored 13 goals combined between them, they were always going to face the danger of the drop.
A player that could solve these issues is West Brom’s Salomon Rondon, valued at £11.70 million according to Transfermarkt. The big Venezuelan forward has scored eight goals in 32 appearances for relegation-bound West Brom in all competitions. The Baggies are rock-bottom of the Premier League and their survival chances look near-on impossible. Rondon has so much to offer the Premier League, with his goals, pace and strength causing teams huge amounts of problems over the last few seasons.
Rondon would fit right in at Newcastle and with West Brom heading to the Championship, the Magpies could acquire the 28-year-old on a cheaper deal. Newcastle and Rafa Benitez in particular will hope that funds will be available in the summer transfer window, having operated this entire season on little money. Now Benitez has proved his capabilities with hardly any backing from Mike Ashley, the owner now has to finally dig deep into his pocket to allow Newcastle to better themselves as a team.
Fans around the bar are sick of seeing this historic team battling relegation so summer signings must be added to the ranks in order to fulfil another successful season in the Premier League.
