Newcastle’s January transfer business is yet to begin which will no doubt be concerning for the Magpies’ supporters.
Rafael Benitez’s men are just two points above the Premier League relegation zone following a dismal start to the season. The former Liverpool boss stated it would be a ‘miracle’ to save his side from the drop after not being backed financially in the summer transfer window. With rumours still swirling surrounding a takeover, it remains to be seen whether Benitez will be given funds to strengthen his squad now the transfer window is officially open again.
Reports suggest that the Magpies have made Atlanta United star, Miguel Almiron, their primary target. However, Newcastle would have to smash their transfer record to lure him to Tyneside and reports in the Chronicle suggest the Paraguay international’s wage demands are astronomical. Therefore, Benitez could be forced to seek alternatives.
Instead, he should go all out to sign Turkish wonderkid – Abdulkadir Omur. Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, the 19-year-old is considered as one of the country’s top prospects after breaking into the Trabzonspor first-team last season. Omur made 29 appearances in the league last season and has once again enjoyed a prominent role in the starting eleven.
Omur is primarily a right winger but can also be deployed centrally and loves to cut inside onto his favoured left foot. His dribbling skills make him unpredictable meaning he is a nightmare for defenders to deal with. Indeed, the youngster needs to improve his goals and assist output, scoring just two goals this season, but a move to the Premier League could be just what he needs to realise his potential.
Adding this talented youngster to his arsenal could give Benitez the firepower he needs to steer the club away from danger.
