The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their club’s fixture against Everton in the Premier League has been selected for live viewing on Sky Sports. The news was broken to the fans by the club’s Twitter account, with a link to the Newcastle website. This means the date of the game has been changed to an evening kick off on Monday 23rd April and now a number of fans will be unable to attend, despite booking hotels and trains in advance.
The Magpies propping our bar are fuming with the change of the fixture’s date as the majority of fans will lose out on money they’ve paid for trains and hotels to attend the game on the weekend. The club has stated they’ll refund fans for the ticket prices but nothing has been said on the expenses front. Fans have previously bemoaned Sky for changing fixture dates as the broadcasting giants always appear to put the TV fans ahead of the fans in the stadium, causing an uproar among a number of fan bases.
Newcastle fans will hope they’ll be well on their way to Premier League survival by the time they face the Toffees at Goodison Park in late April. The club are currently 13th in the Premier League and four points above the relegation zone and whilst Rafa Benitez has done an amazing job in getting the Magpies this far outside the drop zone, there is still work to be done for the Northeast club as they continue to make steps towards top-flight survival.
Here’s what the Newcastle fans make of their fixture change:
Personally feel every nufc fan should ask for a refund and boycott the game absolute disgrace yet again

Terrible decision by sky. No regard at all to fans who have already booked time off/accommodation trains etc
