Amazing Newcastle XI to avoid relegation under Benitez

Amazing Newcastle XI to avoid relegation under Benitez

Newcastle United have struggled to ensure consistency in the current campaign and are still waiting for their first victory.

The Magpies find themselves in a spot of bother and need to seek improvements immediately under Rafa Benitez. Indeed, the Newcastle boss hasn’t been able to rally his troops and his job could come under threat if they don’t begin to climb up the table.

It’s important that the Spaniard can identify his best XI and that they can consistently produce results as they could slip into a relegation dog fight.

Therefore, in an ideal world where injuries aren’t a problem but relegation is a worry, here’s an idea of what Benitez’s amazing XI should look like…

NEWCASTLE UNITED’S AMAZING XI

We’ve gone with a 4-4-2 formation, as that is the formation that Benitez has made use of in the current campaign, but he just needs to be able to identify his strongest XI to really get the best out of this formation.

Martin Dubravka hasn’t been able to ensure solidity in-between the sticks in the current campaign, but it’s safe to say that his defence hasn’t helped his cause.

Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez should be given the nod at the heart of the defence as two of the Magpies’ most established defensive outlets. Indeed, Deandre Yedlin managed to find the back of the net against Manchester City last time out, while Paul Dummett always seems to ensure consistent performances on the left-hand side.

In midfield, Jonjo Shelvey has been a vital part of everything Newcastle United achieve and will lead them forward in what could be a troubling campaign. Meanwhile, Kenedy and Matt Ritchie should be able to provide service for the strikers and may even bag a goal themselves, with Ki sung-Yueng adding a sense of calmness to proceedings.

Lastly, Ayoze Perez should take up his usual role in behind the striker, who will be Salomon Rondon having witnessed his impressive start to life at St James’ Park.
