Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are looking forward to see who their club manages to sign with the transfer window opening tomorrow.
The men from St. James’ Park really do need to get some extra players in to make sure they make the best go of being back in the Premier League as they can and so we should expect plenty of signings.
Indeed, here in the bar we’re hearing plenty of opinions over who the club should sign and one man our landlord would like to see move to Tyneside is Fabian Delph.
The tenacious midfielder really does have talent, let’s not forget that, but he has not been able to showcase that at Manchester City.
Indeed, he has been behind the likes of Yaya Toure in the pecking order – rather expectedly – and we reckon that the Magpies should now look to swoop to sign him up.
The former Aston Villa man would add some extra bite to Newcastle’s midfield whilst he’d also have the hunger to show that he is still a very capable Premier League midfielder.
Indeed, the Magpies need exactly that kind of player as they look to re-establish themselves back in the top flight and with The Telegraph reporting that a £12 million fee would probably be enough to do a deal, this one makes sense.
Rafa Benitez, then, must look at bringing Delph in as a key signing. The midfielder has experience of captaining a big club from his Villa days and the ability to perform at this level – it looks an almost slam-dunk.
