Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been given encouraging news about the future of a key figure at St. James’ Park following their victory against Arsenal at the weekend.
The Magpies beat the Gunners 2-1 in front of their home supporters to almost guarantee their place in the Premier League next season, however, news emerging may delight punters more than the result did.
According to the Mirror, Benitez is ready to make his plans for next season’s efforts and will talk with owner Mike Ashley about transfer funds, although he was coy on his future with the Toon Army.
“If everything is right, it is a good opportunity but everything has to be right,” he told The Mirror.
“We will see. Obviously, it is too early because we have just finished but we have plenty of time to talk about ideas for the future.”
The locals will be hoping the club can provide Benitez with the financial backing to build upon a strong campaign that has already surpassed a number of the punters expectations at the beginning of the season. The most popular manager on Tyneside since Sir Bobby Robson, the punters propping up our bar would love to see him stick around and build the club from the bottom up.
Newcastle fans will be delighted with the way the club has been performing since the turn of 2018, and punters will be looking for the board to do everything they can to get Benitez to sign a new deal, as his current one runs out in a year’s time, whilst offering him the transfer budget he requires to bring in recruits.
