Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from their club’s former captain, Fabricio Coloccini. The Argentina centre-back was a popular figure during his time in the Northeast as he represented the Magpies over 250 times in his eight years with the club.
In an interview with Stan Collymore (via the Chronicle), Coloccini said that he misses Newcastle a lot despite the fact that he’s happy playing football in his home country, Argentina. Now 36, Coloccini spent his best years with Newcastle United, between 2008 and 2016 in a successful spell that saw him help the club qualify for the Europa League in the 2012/13 season under his captaincy.
The Magpies propping up our bar are currently loved up with another fan favourite centre-back as current captain, Jamaal Lascelles, has been impressing fans at St James Park this season. Lascelles even played alongside Coloccini for one season back in 2015/16 before the Argentine departed back to his homeland. Newcastle fans will look back fondly at his time at the club, as they continue to fight relegation from the Premier League this season.

Hopefully gets remembered for his good times rather than his bad. Tailed off at the end (as did the whole team), but at his peak was the best CB we had since Woodgate.
