Bids expected but Newcastle United January deal unlikely to happen – Report

One of the major frustrations amongst the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern has been the fact that Aleksandar Mitrovic hasn’t been given much of a chance by Rafa Benitez. While the Serbian may not be perfect though the Magpies’ recent goal drought has only deepened the frustrated feelings.

Perhaps the 23-year-old may not be the long-term option up front for the Toon Army but he certainly deserves his chance, considering the form of both Dwight Gayle and Joselu of late. So, reports from the Chronicle have proven really rather interesting today.

If you’re going to put your hand in your pocket to back a coupon this weekend, hold fire until you’ve seen our recommended Accys! They claim that, while there is reportedly January interest in the forward, Benitez would not be all too eager to allow him to leave Tyneside, due to a lack of cover. Offers are understood to be on the way, though the Spanish coach is thought to believe sanctioning his exit would be far too risky for a club in Newcastle’s position right now.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Why not give Mitro a run out? It’s been so bad up front of late, he surely deserves a chance to prove his worth before Newcastle really do get dragged into the relegation places.
