Yesterday’s massive takeover news seriously excited the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern, who are dreaming of some shopping in the New Year sales. Indeed, with Amanda Staveley reportedly closing in on the club, our punters clad in black and white are now confident of surviving.
After a torrid time of things of late, the Geordie contingent here in our bar simply cannot wait for the January sales and optimism is finally abound amongst those clad in black and white who frequent our four walls in their droves.
Following last night’s loss to Everton, the punters here in the Tavern certainly need a boost. With that in mind, comments from Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder on Twitter have at least given them another reason to smile, after such a miserable run of form.
Taking to social media, Ryder revealed a recruitment meeting amongst the movers and shakers on Tyneside was scheduled for today.
#nufc set to hold a recruitment meeting for January transfers tomorrow. Reports that deal being “close” are not being denied by the club. So Rafa’s “good news” 24 hours ago unfolding nicely

Amid such a terrible run of results, it’s certainly the news Newcastle fans needed. Now just to sort out the targets.
It’s absolutely imperative that Newcastle get things right in January. They’ve spent big money before when in similar situations, with mixed results, though neither Mike Ashley nor Amanda Staveley can afford to see the Toon slip back into the Championship.
Hopefully for them, things can be sorted ASAP.
