As the Magpies continue to fly with Rafa Benitez at the helm, a man who worked behind the scenes with the Spanish coach is going through a sticky patch right now.

Indeed, former Toon No.2 Ian Cathro has been sacked by SPFL side Heart of Midlothian after just seven months in charge at Tynecastle. His exit follows dismal losses to the likes of Peterhead and Dunfermline in the Betfred Cup, just a few days before the season against Celtic.

Though the 31-year-old has struggled to convince he’s up to the task of being the main man just yet, he remains a popular figure amongst our resident Geordies, with many of them taking to Twitter to chime in on the matter.
