Chinese and American interest in buying Newcastle United amid Staveley takeover talk – Report

With talk of a takeover on the tip of their tounges, the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern cannot stop celebrating. Though there might be a long way to go just yet, the idea of seeing an owner willing to back Rafa Benitez has seriously excited the punters here who are clad in black and white.

Interest from Amanda Staveley is reportedly growing and the Geordie contingent who frequent in their droves are already discussing potential January targets. Still, a report from the Chronicle details interest from other parties, too.

According to them, FOUR parties have signed an NDA with the club in regards to potentially buying from Mike Ashley and there is said to have been interest from Chinese and American parties, just days after the Sports Direct mogul officially put the club up for sale.

Though Staveley is the most widely reported, it seems the prospect of buying Newcastle United has interested a few parties, much to the delight of the Magpies here in the Tavern.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Whoever buys Newcastle United must back Benitez in the transfer market. You get the feeling that the club are on the cusp of something great under the Spaniard, who needs money to really challenge for the top six, as well as a cup run.
