Christmas dream could still be on for Newcastle United as Mike Ashley era draws to an end

As you can imagine, the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are dancing in a state of absolute delight. Indeed, following reports that Amanda Staveley made a £300m bid for the club, our punters clad in black and white believe the dream in on.

While no deal is thought to have been agreed, reports from the Chronicle have provided an interesting update in regard to goings on behind the scenes on Tyneside. According to their report, last night’s reported bid for the club may not have been agreed, though reportedly made PCP’s intentions ‘crystal clear’ and apparently raised hope a takeover could be completed before Christmas.

That particular target had been mooted in previous weeks and the idea of seeing Rafa Benitez backed in the January transfer market has seriously excited our resident Geordies, who had to endure a frustrating summer under Mike Ashley’s stingy spending.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Three losses on the bounce have dampened the mood amongst our resident Newcastle fans, though any takeover before the New Year sales really could change things. It’d be such a big boost, you’d back them to make a challenge for the top seven at least.
