Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted after seeing their side earn a massive three points at the weekend against Leicester City and step closer to Premier League survival and the celebrations look set to continue.
It is being reported that takeover talks for the club have resumed between Amanda Staveley and her Middle-East backed group and Mike Ashley, the Sunday Mirror Sport claims. The media outlet are stating that there have been constructive talks between the two parties over the past few weeks.
Discussions about a potential sale have lingered on for a number of months and in January it appeared a deal was nowhere close to happening after the current owners accused the whole talks as a publicity stunt after failing to get anywhere near to their valuation of £350million.
However, it appears that the latest run of form from Rafa Benitez’s side have reignited the interest and investors are keen to resume the talks after the Magpies look to have retained their Premier League status for next season. As you can imagine, the punters clad in black and white who frequent our four walls in their droves have been absolutely delighted.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be delighted that potential takeover talks are back on with many of them having called for Ashley to leave the club a number of years ago after failing to invest in players. The locals will be pleased that the news could also see Benitez stay at the club beyond the summer, as he continued to be frustrated by the lack of finances he had for transfers and new ownership may offer him more to attract new additions to St. James’ Park.
