Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern, we've got some more news to keep you happy.

Rafael Benitez is on the hunt for someone to help chip in some goals next summer. So far this window, the Magpies have managed to bring in Ki Sung-yeung and signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal. It now seems that Newcastle could be close to sealing a deal for Chelsea's Kenedy.

The Breakdown

The Newcastle Echo is reporting that United want to sign Kenedy this summer and will sell Matt Ritchie to help fund the move.

The Brazilian spent the second-half of last season on loan at Tyneside and became an instant fan favourite. The Toon have been very keen on Kenedy and are desperate to bring him back. Although he only scored two goals to go along with two assists, Kenedy was a key player for Benitez in the latter stages of the season.

The report also states that Chelsea have given a solid indication to Newcastle that a deal will go ahead. With Chelsea in an apparent state of chaos, it might be the ideal time to push forward and seal a cut-price transfer.

Although Kenedy never managed to break into the first-team, the Brazilian still could some serious pace and quality Benitez's side. Moreover, if Mike Ashley were to bring the Brazilian to Tyneside, it'd be a massive indication of intent by the club.

If Benitez could bring Kenedy up north and possibly a striker too, he may just have some reliable forward options for next season.
