There is expected to be some change at Newcastle United in the summer and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to seeing what happens.
Rafa Benitez is known to be wanting to add a number of additions to his team as they look to build upon this season’s performance, however, it has been reported that he is ready to allow a number of players to leave the Magpies as well.
According to a report in The Northern Echo, the Spaniard has given Jesus Gamez and Massadio Haidara the green light to leave the north-east for nothing as their contracts are set to expire with no new deals being discussed.
Gamez has had a difficult time since arriving in St James’ Park in 2016, having made just a total of seven appearances whilst Haidara has had an even worse time in the black-and-white stripes. He has been rocked by a number of injuries and has only made one league appearance in two seasons.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will not be too concerned with the departures of Gamez and Haidara as they have rarely featured for their team and will be pleased to be able to offload them from the club’s books and free up some needed finance.
Neither will be missed and hopefully for Rafa Benitez, he can finally strengthen more areas of the side.
