Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to seeing what is going to happen this weekend as they take on Huddersfield in their first away game of the season.
The men from St. James’ Park lost at home to Tottenham last weekend but could have got a result had eleven men remained on the pitch and so now the plan is to try and get something off of the Terriers.
That will be hard, though, with them inevitably buzzing after their win over Crystal Palace on the opening weekend and so it remains to be seen who Rafa Benitez plays in the match.
It’s unlikely, though, that young goalkeeper Freddie Woodman will play, despite being seen as a top young talent, and the stopper could just find himself on his way from the club before too long.
Naturally, he wants first team football and, according to Chronicle Live, he is being tracked by Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Everton ahead of a potential move this summer.
Certainly, then, the Magpies had better make it clear that they want to keep him – if indeed they do.
Woodman is a top young ‘keeper and showed that with the Young Lions over the summer so Newcastle would be silly to let him go.
If he can see a better path to the first team at one of the other sides, though, he might just ask to move away from St. James’ Park before the end of the window.
