‘Fake news’, ‘False hope’ – Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to big money rumours

Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern feel as if its comedy night as news filters through about the possibility of a substantial transfer budget.

The Newcastle fans far and wide have all been loving the prospect of owner Mike Ashley finally leaving and selling the club as reports suggest a deal could be done by January. Many of the Toon Army feel that they haven’t had the best of times under Ashley as he fails to provide the money when needed the most in desperate times, so therefore, have been pushing for the sales process to be sped up by the man.

Indeed, in the past couple of days, there has been some news breaking through as reports now suggest that British businesswomen Amanda Staveley is willing to provide a £500m transfer budget for the Tyneside club to win the Premier League. As you can imagine, this has sparked all kinds of different responses from fans all over the world as they share their opinions on the matter.

Having made an impressive start to the season it adds a sense of extra appeal as any progression from here could see the side rocket up the table in search of a European spot. However, with the potential amount of money that may be pumped into the club, it would only make sense to implement this during preseason to really give new players a chance to buy into the Benitez regime.

If the funds can be provided for the English giants and they manage to hold on to their Spanish mastermind Benitez then it looks as if they can possibly build the start of a legacy under the influence of new owners.

As news filtered in, here’s what some of the Toon Army thought about it on social media…

So Newcastle fans, any added thoughts?
