‘Financing the Plea deal’ – Most Newcastle fans keen on pushing ace out of St. James’ Park

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to letting Aleksandar Mitrovic go this summer. The club have long been ready to sell the striker and this summer looks like the right time to let him go, with Fulham prepared to fork out the £20 million asking price.

The Magpies have been linked with a number of strikers in the past few months. Alassane Plea and Nikolai Jorgensen are the two where there seemed to be some substance behind the rumours, although the way things have been going with Plea it’s unlikely the Frenchman will end up at St James Park after Tottenham and West Ham have both supposedly lodged bids for the striker.

The Geordies aren’t confident that they can compete with either the Lilywhites or the Hammers financially but if they do manage to sign Plea it would be a huge coup for the club. At the moment, minus Mitrovic, Rafa Benitez’s side currently have just Dwight Gayle and Joselu to be deployed up top and neither of them has looked like a convincing Premier League striker. The club will be looking to sign a goalscorer, and the Mitrovic money will be vital in bringing someone in.
