Forget Liverpool: Newcastle is the perfect destination for this £6.3m-rated star this summer

Newcastle United supporters have been pretty downbeat in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their team suffer a second successive Premier League defeat at the hands of West Brom on Saturday.

Rafa Benitez’s men went into their encounter with the division’s bottom club off the back of losing 1-0 at Everton in their preceding league outing, a result which brought to an end their impressive four-match winning streak. And the Magpies were unable to return to winning ways on Saturday as a first half strike from Matt Phillips was enough to secure all three points for Darren Moore’s side, in turn keeping them in with a slim chance of staving off relegation.

Subsequently, there have been many disappointed Newcastle fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping their side can bounce back and finish the season strongly, starting with victory at Watford on Saturday.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Magpies supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports (via The Newcastle Chronicle) suggesting that Liverpool have joined the race for winger Kenedy, who is currently on loan from Chelsea.

Yet given the plethora of attacking talent at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal at Anfield, it seems pretty clear that the £6.3 million-rated star (as per Transfermarkt) should forget about Liverpool, as Newcastle is the perfect destination for the 22-year-old.

Ultimately, the winger has been in fine form for Benitez’s side since making the move to St James’ Park on loan back in January, with two goals and two assists to show for his 11 Premier League appearances for the Magpies.

And while he may have hoped to have made more direct contributions this term, it’s clear that he has brought another dimension and element of creativity to a Newcastle front line that seriously struggled for goals in the first half of the campaign – the Magpies have only failed to score in three of those 11 games since Kenedy joined.

And given he is commanding regular football every week, and very much proving his worth down the left-hand-side in Benitez’s team, a permanent move to Newcastle looks to be a great option for the Brazilian, whereas it’s difficult to say the same about a move to Liverpool.

Obviously, the Reds are in a much healthier position than the Magpies and look set to again play Champions League football next season, but Kenedy is simply not going to get into the team ahead of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah, who have bagged an astonishing 89 goals between them this term.

Thus, in terms of career progression, Newcastle is the perfect place for Kenedy to remain beyond the summer – he is playing regularly in a team that looks to be on the up, and significantly is playing a key part in their upward trajectory.

As such, the 22-year-old should forget about a permanent move to Anfield in the summer, as St James’ Park appears to be the ideal destination for him to continue his career.
