Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are delighted after going two games without a defeat, as they hope this is a sign of things to come at St James’ Park.
The Magpies are looking to cement a place in the Premier League for next season, as they hope their January transfer window business was sufficient enough to warrant survival. However, both of the club’s new signings are yet to feature for the Toon Army, as an injury and Rafa Benitez’s decision-making has the pair awaiting their first minutes for the Tyneside club. Although, loanee Martin Dubravka seems to have already seen enough at the club to want a future at St James’ Park, as according to reports in the Chronicle Live, Newcastle have a £4 million permanent deal clause for Martin Dubravka.
After joining the club on loan for the rest of the season, Martin Dubravka is hoping to make the move a permanent switch. And, he may just be given his first chance to prove himself, as Rafa Benitez is contemplating handing the Slovakian a starting place against Manchester United at the weekend.
For a Newcastle United side that’s seen Karl Darlow struggle in recent performances between the sticks, offering Dubravka a chance to showcase his talents could see them uncover a permanent No.1 in the Slovakian. With the inclusion of their new signing showing Benitez’s intent to find the right formula, it’s a move that could reap huge rewards in terms of their future in the Premier League.
Their January signing hasn’t had a chance to prove himself thus far, so having opted to bring him in permanently it could prove to be a disaster if he flops at St James’ Park. Nevertheless, to have a ‘keeper that can provide healthy competition and back-up for Karl Darlow, Benitez will be delighted to have finally sorted a problem that’d halted the progress of the Magpies so far this season.
