Newcastle fans here in the Tavern are buzzing with their recent form, as an improved run of form can soon be greeted with a debut for one of their transfer window signings.
Although the Magpies overall outlook on the January transfer window will be a negative one, managing to acquire a striker that Rafa Benitez had his eyes on as the primary target prior to the window will be massive for the club. Indeed, the loan capture of Islam Slimani from Leicester City was a piece of business that Benitez had high value for in terms of the club’s survival, but has yet been given the chance to prove himself as he makes his way back from injury. However, according to reports from Sky Sports, Slimani is training with his Newcastle team-mates for the first time and could face Manchester United on Sunday.
Slimani made a deadline day move across from the King Power Stadium but has not been able to leave his mark on proceedings as a thigh injury continues to halt his progress. But, fears that the Algerian would be set to miss the first four weeks with the Magpies have soon been withdrawn, as the 29-year-old has even managed to join in with full training this morning.
Indeed, for a Newcastle side that have finally come to the realisation of Joselu’s inability to lead the line for the Magpies, our local residents are purring at the sight of seeing the Algerian make his long-awaited debut at St James’ Park. And, with the Sky cameras involved as part of Super Sunday, the Leicester loanee will be hoping to showcase his goalscoring talents on the world stage.
Newcastle fans are excited to see their loan signing make his debut for the club after laying witness to one of the worst signings in Newcastle’s history for the past six months. However, it’s not certain as to whether he will start against Manchester United, although he’ll be sure to make an impact no matter how many minutes he’s gifted with. A player that could definitely cure the Magpies’ goalscoring woes, as supporters here in the Tavern believe that he’s the man to take them clear of relegation troubles.
